It was a mesmerizing moment for the parents of students of the Oasis Public High School when they performed on stage during the educational institute’s annual day function at Indoor Stadium here on Saturday. The parents turned nostalgic as they recounted their childhood memories before the jam-packed audience in the stadium. The event began with the recitation of verses from Holy Quran by a 9th standard student, Burhan. Donning colorful dresses, the students enthralled their parents performing various skits. The event revolved around the rhymes and poems dedicated to the parents and grandparents. Seeing their kids performing on the stage, the parents captured their every movement— on cameras and cell phones. Students of all branches of Oasis functioning at Gogji Bagh, Baba Demb, Rawalpora, Habbak, Bemina and Buchpora participated in the event. Encouraged by thundering applause, the kids made their performance lively. The continuous guidance of the concerned teachers on the stage made the small kids perform meticulously. The kids of primary standard highlighted the issue of female feticide in one of their presentations. While the students of 2nd class showcased the plight of parents whose wards went missing in the Valley. 20 performances including, rhymes, poems and dress competitions were presented by the kids on the stage. Unfazed by leakage in the roof of the stadium during rains, the enthused parents sat on the floor to see performance of their kids. In his address, Senior Advocate Zaffar Ahmad Shah said the day is observed to “catch the feelings of students.” “The performances by our kids will remain as a treasure for all of us,” Shah said. He complimented the students and the management of the OASIS school for their efforts to make the event a success. President JK State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC) Justice (Retd) Bashir Ahmad Kirmani also complemented the school management and students for their stunning performances---which glued the audience to their seats till culmination of the event. He lauded the efforts of the school management for rebuilding the institution post-floods and preparing the small kids for the event. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman OASIS Group of Schools, Ashiq Hussain Masoodi said the school management has been making all efforts to take out the students from the trauma of floods. “Despite facing challenges in rebuilding the school after floods, we decided to prepare students for this day. This made the annual day a grand success,” Masoodi said. The event concluded with the prize distribution among the best student of the school in both boys and girls categories, faculty members, functionaries and other workers of the school. Besides other dignitaries present on the occasion included former Managing Director of the Power Development Corporation (PDC) Meraj Kakroo and General Secretary Joint Committee of Private schools G N Var respectively.
